I agree with Rod and the bigger the diameter the better, certainly not less than 4". It's worth trying to get the cloth as tight on the roll as possible, without pulling threads, or the weave, out of shape. Start by taping the end to the roller, and wear gloves to prevent snagging threads. I can always pick up unwanted cardboard tubes from local commercial printers.
