Bill,

This was the first SOF I ever built. It had lots of errors, the biggest one was using pine from a crate for the stringers and interior plywood for the frames. The second biggest was the pitiful skin covering.

After a few more I have thought about doing exactly your suggestion if I ever do another.
Sort of a combination of the concepts in the Greenland style bidarkas and the Yost style boats.
The Yost spacing (wide) and molded frames.

Since I have 2 1/2 boats I need to get rid of I'm not planning on a new one just now.

It is clear that 1/2" thick frames are tremendously stronger than 1/4" plywood on edge.
I would probably make them a little narrower and thicker and mold 2 or three boats at a time.
Wide frames have a problem of seating the stringers well unless you cut a notch.
