I once had a log conversation with the DeWalt rep at Home Depot about that exact thing. Mine was doing it too.

He first insured me that DeWalt used the highest quality velcro pad money can buy and told me that with normal wood use, they will last many years but it's fiberglass particles that will ruin the velcro. Boat builders can ruin a velcro pad in a month with fiberglass particles. He went out side and came back with two new ones he handed me.

You can buy crack and peel velcro too but sometimes the suction holes are not on them. I tried them but they would work their way loose no matter what I tried.

He also told me to try using the crack and peel sanding disc on a flat pad vs. velcro and that what most body shops and pro users use. Apparently velcro is mostly for the handyman.
