Just finished my Guillimot and starting on paddle. Waiting for supplier to get spruce for shaft so made the blades according to Nick's book. Cut tapered curve on bandsaw, faired surfaces of each of four halves, marked but di not yet cut our pattern in wood, from cardboard pattern. My question is this: When gluing blades to each side of the shaft there would be a space between the halves of the blades equal to the diameter of the shaft. How do you get the halves of the blades to touch and form one continuous surface? Is there a tapered slot cut in the shaft to accommodate the blades? This detail is not clear in the book.
