Actually, I would not go back tighten the screws, especially if they're flatheads. The number one cause of split hatch rings is screws (or rivets) that are too tight. If screws are installed using Nyloc nuts, lock washers or Loctite, there is no need for them to be really tight, nor is there any advantage to it. Personally, I'd be more inclined to remove the fasteners entirely and fill the holes with sealant, as they really aren't necessary once the sealant is set, especially if you use 5300.
