The hot melt glue holds the strip to the forms after heat bending then holding in place with jigs while wood glue cures. Then when you take your jigs off to add another strip, the strip does not pull away from the form. There are tight spaces in the ends that you will not get into with a hot glue gun. Does that answer your question? There are many videos on YouTube showing how to use the heat gun and hot melt to hold staple less strips in place.
