On my Yukon I followed the recess template per the plan. Just took two pictures that I will try to post. Nicks response is accurate except I just glass the underside of the recess and coaming area and would not want added strips where glass would be stronger.
Keep the recess template centered and if it does get a little bigger when fairing up it is no big deal.
On the front the recess line almost aligns with the coaming and at the back the line pushes rearward more.
