Here is a frame of a boat I just finished. I have been looking for a boat for me for a while. I have several I like but none I love. I built one for someone and really liked it. The more I paddled it, the more I like it. So I decided to build one with a few tweaks for myself.
I have played around with ideas for a retractable skeg for a SOF for some time now. I am pretty confident I have a viable design, so that is on today's work sheet. Going to build the final version and install it on the frame.
Also worked on the way the stringers are laid out. A lot of Fuselage Frame boats do not hold their intended shape once they come off the strongback. Many hog or flatten out, loosing the designed rocker. I am convinced that is because no thought is give to the way the wood wants to bend.
After oiling I placed it back on the strongback spacers and it lined up perfectly. No movement in the frame at all. Of course time will tell if holds the rocker as designed, but that looks promising.
With the frame done and here is the requisite Frame on the Grass (FRoG) photo. Except the finish was still wet and I couldn't actually put in on the grass.
