Is there a reason you chose to have the tiller bar attached to the footrest rather than to the hull? That means that if you move the footrest, the rudder cables need to be adjusted.

I mount my tiller bars on a beam fixed across the hull so that I can move the footrest without having to touch the rudder cables.

Actually, I can move the footrest without adjusting the cables or the length of the tiller bar. If you take a close look at the crossbar, it has a small hole at the outboard end that faces the stern. The cable from the rudder enters this hole in the tube and makes a right angle turn toward the pivot pin. It bypasses the large hole to a small hole half an inch from the pivot pin. It exits this hole, makes another right angle turn forward and heads to a small hole in the forward bulkhead where it is tied off. If I move the footrest forward or aft, the control cables slide through the holes in the crossbar, and no adjustment of them is needed.
