Don't worry about it is correct. But, I use a single edge razor and cut them and using an exacto knife or any pointed instrument just pick them off. This is after I apply the epoxy and it's still wet. It only takes a few minutes. If you use a brush to apply epoxy, just dab on edges to prevent pulling strands, rather than brushing.
