I still have a lot of work to do but I decided it was time to get her wet. I named her avocet and took some of the lines for the deck (lots of curves) and some of the markings from the American Avocet. I built her to be a photography boat, I spend a lot of time in small lakes and marshes photographing birds like the avocet with a super-tele. She is wider 23.2", shorter16'2", and a little more flat bottomed than most of my boats. I made the deck in front of the large cockpit a little higher 14.4" so I could make an under the deck deck bag for my camera gear. Enough rocker to be responsive and still efficient up to 4-4.5 knots. She is pretty full bodied and secondary stability felt pretty high. She is 35 lbs currently with 2 layers of glass on the hull and a lot of walnut. She felt good in my backyard pond.
