I used polyester fabric on a SOF years back and covered it with epoxy.
I tinted the epoxy but in spite of all the words of wisdom, it has held up fine, and is still good. I did coat it with marine varnish. I sanded the fabric before coating it.

If your intention was mine I would glass the boat with maybe a 2oz. And while wet, apply sanded real tree fabric and coat it. Once hard, a lighter sanding and then a coat of epoxy. Since its the deck, I would think that would be enough.??? Maybe more glass?? But I doubt it.

A light sanding of your fabric will not destroy the art and color, it will just give it some tooth.
