You could probably, never tried it but was suggested by someone else, wrap lots of wraps of a waterproof tape to make a drip ring on each side. Would take some experimenting to find out just how much of a ring would be needed to work. Of course that's pretty easy to do, try some if it doesn't work, add some more etc.

I'd try with electrical tape, it's cheap.
