What Bill is referring to is that these fabrics are actually coated on both sides, one side with polyurethane and the other with a "durable water repellant" (DWR), that prevents anything from bonding to that surface. The bottom line is that using coated fabrics creates more problems than it solves and it costs more on top of it. That's why nobody uses them.
