I agree with Nick, I would sand the surface down to the glass but not into the glass and blow it out with a compressor just to open up some of the holes. I did have a similar issue for about 3 inches on one joint. I drilled a small hole on both end down to the wood surface and applied epoxy with a horse syringe on one end when I pulled a vacuum on the other end with another syringe. I don't know if the vacuum end actually worked but it made me feel more confident. It worked pretty well.
