Skin-on-Frame: Tandem and rudders?
I have been putting this off for a long time, but I giving a tandem a serious look. Since my boats are SOF I would prefer not to have to go with a rudder but part of me is saying on a tandem with an inexperienced paddler in the front, it would probably be a good thing to have. Obviously this also depends on the design of the boat.
I like Rob's Twin Star a lot and I read no one uses rudders on them. I suspect that is partly because of the Baidarkas high rocker in the bow and for course some good design work from Rob.
Just looking for thoughts on the rudder vs no rudder on a tandem.
