Thank everyone. It does have an internal stem with a removable edge. The angles that I ground where the strips meet is the beginning of my problem. They weren't done very well and that set up the strips to lay at a tighter angle on one side. I would post pictures but my computer died and I am just using my phone that sucks .
sometimes.
I am going to slice into it as suggested to relieve one side so it lines up properly, and install an external piece for aesthetics.
