I LOVE the unishock bulkhead in my Jackson. I've been thinking on how to adapt the adjustment system to a sea kayak. The rope adjust is spectacular. You can adjust it without getting out of the boat. I've never taken an ankle-jarring hit because I do mostly play boating, but we were running a II-III river this spring and a friend of mine who had a kayak with rigid foot pegs got off line to let an out-of-control student careen by, and she hit a rock square on with the bow, and seriously injured her ankles. We were lucky that it was the last rapid before a take-out for a dam portage, because she needed help getting out of the kayak and couldn't walk. So I guess it can happen on any water...
