I used rebar tie wire (for concrete construction)
Cheap.
It will rust and stain if left in or if it gets wet. But mine never did.
I did believe there was some dark color transfer, occasionally.
It does need to be removed, I never found that to be an issue so I didn't have problems with tool edges.
If I used copper it would be pulled also.
I did find that like eveything else it can be busted if you try to really tighten up a tie.
