Greetings all,

A while back I started working on a Tom Yost Sea Rider (then I had kids ;-) ) - I got to the point of having the stations and combing out of marine grade ply made, and ordered aluminum tubing and PVC skin - my intent was to make a non folder - wanted to go with aluminum over cedar for the stringers because I lacked the means to get mostly clear grain wood and didn't trust myself with scarfing :-)

Initially I was planning on doing the lacing method described by Tom:

Thinking more about - since this will be a non folder - I could get a tighter skin if I could find a way to staple on the skin like the wood non folders - would it be possible to attach (adhesive?) a 1/4" wood? tack strip to the gunwales and then staple the pvc skin for the hull and deck to that? Would this be advisable? Alternative ideas?
