As Bill said, I regularly glue dacron to my cockpit coaming with epoxy instead of stitching, etc.

Works perfectly, no issues with it letting go. Just stretch the dacron across the opening, and paint epoxy thru the cloth.

A heat gun or iron after it is bonded is no issue.
