Well- I said I'd never build another bright-finished kayak. All of those recommendations are based on many years of cabinetmaking experience. In my own experience with fiberglass and dye... I spent a long time making a custom dye color that was exactly what I wanted, and even did full test panels with epoxy and clear. HOWEVER- I didn't use the fiberglass in my tests. After I got the color right I put down my glass and was confused and annoyed that the epoxy I was scraping off after I laminated had a green tint. It turns out the S-glass I was using had a Volan coating, and not Silane, and Volan has a slightly green hue. So it messed up the color I had planned. Still looks o.k. People are impressed.

Then I went back to skin-on-frames, and now that I'm looking at a S&G I'm 100% dedicated to an opaque finish.
