The plane needs to be low angle. I like the low angle Stanley. There are others but they will cost more. Sharpening stone is just as important. Worth going on youtube and learning how to properly set it up and sharpen it.

I use West System. Once you learn how a particular epoxy is to work with it is a pain to change brands.
At any given time I have 1/4 cans of one hardener or the other. I hate to waste and changing brands would put these on the shelf.
Knowing when it will kick at certain temps and when I may or may not get blush is comforting.

When you have a hardwood next to basswood you have to be more careful sanding and planning at the joint. Basswood will work down easy while the hardwood will stand firm..:)
What plans are you building? A SUP is on my list and I would like a strip.
