For me, if you're going to work on a professional level, or even a semi-professional level you should be using air tools

I had the compressor and considered moving to air, but the compressor was huge and noisy. I could have moved it outside, but that involved making a little shed and drilling holes in the wall, etc. I ended up putting the compressor on Craigslist priced to move.

Even building boats professionally, when it comes down to it I am not actually sanding that much of the time. I'm not like a body shop where someone is almost always grinding and sanding. I have spurts of sanding between other tasks. I also end up bringing my tools to locations where I teach classes. Electric tools fit my needs well.
