I have one of those Makita hoses. It's a 1" outside diameter and 3/4" interior. The long, small diameter hose reduces the suction too much.
I use a standard 1-1/2" vac hose with the Fein reducer which creates a venturi effect increasing suction.
The Venturi effect is similar to the feeling one gets when the thumb is placed at the end of a garden hose with the water turned on. The water’s velocity increases when the thumb is placed over the water.
Yes, the larger hose is a little more cumbersome, but I just get used to holding the sander in one hand and the hose in the other to balance.
