I had a similar situation 10 years ago. Our house had been on and off the market for four years, and I was slowly proceeding on a cold molded rowing shell. Suddenly, we had good offer so I spent next three months finishing planking the hull, putting on the deck, and getting it off the strong-back in an easily manageable form. It spent two years in a friends barn, then two years in my shop, while I got things together, repaired the inevitable damage, purchased the rowing rig, and finished it (15 years start to finish).

I took it out twice and decided I hated it. Who in their right mind enjoys traveling around backwards. It has spent the past 5 years suspended from the ceiling of my garage. I really wish I had cut it up and burned it, when it was inexpensive in time and money to do so.

My thought is this: If all you are out is the time and money of stripping the hull, then take it apart, put the forms, remaining strips, fiberglass, and epoxy in storage. After the move, if your lifestyle is suited to building a kayak, then you just need to build a strong back and obtain enough strips for the hull. If the situation is not good, you can probably sell the glass and epoxy for less aggrevation than a half finished boat. Your mileage may vary.
