Speaking further on embarrassing moments. I am currently working out of town. Two days ago, the guys asked me to make a run into town to get coffees and muffins. The supervisor suggested that I take his truck to do the trip. First I had to go get someone at the front gate at the pulp mill where we were working. I agreed. In the parking lot there were many trucks, one parked exactly where he parked his the day before and looking just like his truck. I squeezed between the parked trucks, got into the one that looked like his, and drove off. Now, you need to understand that at plants like this, everyone leaves the keys in their vehicles just in case of emergency and it has to be moved. So I hopped in, found the keys and drove to the front gate to pick up this dude and get him back to the area where we were working. I get to the front gate, and I see the guy but he is looking kinda weird at my truck, like he doesn't recognize it. So I rolled down the window and waved him over. His face has a big X on it and I ask him what his problem is. He says that he doesn't recognize the truck because it doesn't have the company logo on the door like all of our trucks do. Thats when I realized that oh shit!, I took someone elses truck. I told him to get the hell into the truck quickly and I drove it back to the spot where I first took it. Luckily, there was no one looking for a stolen truck and as far as I know, the RCMP were not on the lookout for it. I do not drive pickups and as far as I am concerned, they all look alike. Needless to say, I felt somewhat embarrassed about the whole situation. That said, I suggested to my supervisor that he might want to consider trying to get an upgraded truck...the one I stole,er...brrowed... was a lot nicer.
