To me... choosing the right strip, deciding where to place the accents, heat-gunning the strip for a flat lay and bevelling the strip for a nice tight fit... that is the whole point of the exercise. I relish and enjoy the woodworking involved, and enjoy the time, without rushing to jam in as may strips as possible in the shortest time.

Very well said ET. The reason we go the extra mile to not use staples is for the end result. I rushed my last kayak in order to finish in time to show it. I will never do that again. There is a great personal reward for taking the time to do a good job.
My Mystic Star is taking a lot of extra time. The construction process is more complex than most other kayaks. I feel like I am way behind in terms of time. But I am having a blast building it. You are very right in saying that it’s the journey that matters.
