On most V shaped hulls that are "twichy" on center benefit from extra ballast, then they tend to be a bit more stable on center. The other way is to just allow it to tilt to one side when at rest, most lean a little and get very stable leaned.

Should be pretty stable when it's moving.

One thing I recommend is to sit in shallow water and with the paddle on the bottom so you don't accidentally flip over, lean until you learn where the secondary stability quits, then you can usually relax and just paddle knowing that the boat is much more stable than you gave it credit for being.

My Yost Sea Ranger which is pretty skinny doesn't lose secondary stability until it's past 45 degrees off center, it'll never be that far over by mistake with me paddling it, it's actually one of the most stable boats I own as far as secondary stability goes.
