You don't need marine grade plywood if you really don't care how long it lasts.
The best thing about marine grade plywood is that it is suppose to not have voids in the plys. Since most of this ply is 3 ply, a one ply void essentially kills the strength in that local area.
I encourage marine ply (not fir) and carefully edge sealing all the ply.
