I'm gonna display my ignorance here: what's a surf-ski?

I'm not sure the V-8 and Yukon compare, the web site give it a weight range from 99 - 320 lbs.

Well ... in deference to it's name ... a surfski is made for riding ocean swells (not for surfzone play) ... although a "specski" is made for doing both.

Nick gives more information and more precise information than does Epic so it's not easy to compare the two ... but don't let that fool ya. Both are go fast designs built for similar purposes ... and though there are differences in the hulls ... they are usually subtle. Have a look at the designs from West Side Boat Shop ... they look a lot like the Yukon. Around here where I paddle ... SF Bay Area ... the West Side designs go head to head with surfskis ... though the surfskis almost always win out.

As to the weight range ... what you need to talk to Nick about is the "sinkage" ... he hasn't specified it on the product page. It's a measure of how much extra weight it takes to sink the hull an extra inch with respect to it's design value. It's usually in the range of 70ish pounds per inch. So though you're heaver than the Yukon was designed for ... it's still just a design value ... and at your weight the extra sinkage would likely be 3/4 inch or so.

At any rate ... I think it you can discuss your concerns with Nick ... he'll help ya make the best decision.
