Building boats for kids has limited appeal for me. I built a scaled down boat for my son one autumn, and by the time summer had arrived he was already too big for it and had moved into one of my adult boats. I ended up giving the boat away to someone who used it for a few months and then passed it on again.

I would build the boat for yourself, as you will want to be out with them in open water to begin with anyway, and then build two full sized ladies skis for them and let them grow into them. It will happen much more quickly then you might imagine, and they will have proper boats as they get stronger.
