I use a Dust Deputy and it works great! My shop vac and filter are dust and debris free, with all of the dust and particulate staying in the 5 gallon bucket that I have the Dust Deputy attached to. I highly recommend it. The DIY version from Oneida can be purchased for around $50.

I also use the 20" box fan with furnace filters to help clean some of the air. After having sinus surgery 4 years ago, my surgeon, a woodworker himself, recommended the box fan and furnace filter method. It doesn't do as good of a job as a commercial unit, but as a low budget cleaner, it works very well. I have mine mounted directly to the ceiling joists, sucking the air upwards.
