There is a factor that makes a huge difference, which few people realize or understand.

Sometimes you find a tool, a kind or piece of wood or a building style, like stripper construction that just "clicks" and is fun beyond explanation.

I remember in art school finding a certain kind of paper to draw on and everything seemed to change, I was inspired!

I was reminded of this recently while in a hospital waiting room as I watched a woman doing what I thought was knitting.

I asked her about it, and she said she was crotcheting!
I asked, "what's the difference?" She explained while knitting used two needles, crotcheting uses one hooked needle.

She said, I just didn't care for knitting, but she found crotcheting fun!

The same idea works for us. Now Nick has that sweet little Lie Nielsen block plane I'm sure he loves to use.

I thought it too pretty and too expensive to buy one. I drive past their store here in Maine every now and then and think, "Is it worth it?"

So if a tool, a kind of wood or building method is "Fun" for you, that's priceless!
