I am curious where the shavings on Nick's tool end up.

The shavings do jam up a bit inside the plane at times. Initially they exit out the side because you are taking a slight angle off the corner of the strip so it curls out the side towards the form. As you get more to a full width cut it tends to collect in the the throat of the plane. This wad of shavings often gets scraped out as you pass the form, but it is not ideal.

I've thought about sharpening a slight bevel on to the blade so it cuts the bevel slightly open on the inside. This would help direct the curl out the side. I'm also contemplating creating a little chip deflector behind the blade to push the shaving out the side.
