Perhaps I don't understand what you are suggesting.

Please make a sketch or mockup.

Nick's tool clearly flexes to follow the frames, its there in the video he posted. Of course it doesn't just in the area of the metal plane. Is that close enough? I don't think Nick has said what he is still working on.
Your picture of a molding plane clearly won't flex.

My actual condern for Nick's tool is that the angle you need to cut needs to be set by contact of the tool with the next strip "land". The height of the tool might fool you into cutting a much larger angle, and not cut the full face of the existing strip.
Tools do require ability in use, so perhaps this concern is not realistic.
