Getting the gunwales level often times takes some playing around since no two pieces of wood bend exactly the same. I take a fairly long, 5 or 6 foot piece of scrap and bungee it to the gunwales midships (middle of the boat) and pull that scrap stick to get the gunwales even, then tie it to the strongback to hold that position.

It's sometimes kinda like wrestling wet noodles, lots of skinny sticks and bungees.

Helps often to bungee the keel to the strongback to hold the rocker, usually have to have a scrap spacer to have the correct measurement.
