Yeah polyester stinks, but more so if it's not catalyzed properly. It's relatively easy to under catalyze polyester, the amounts of catalyst are tiny in comparison to epoxy, has to be measured in a graduated cylinder.
After several years though there should be no odor left, then cured polyester looks just like cured epoxy. My old NDK has no smell inside at all (if it's freshly washed).
