All good response below. I have painted several by roll on and tip with a good brush. Comes out nice when the paint is the right thickness to flow and level.
But the most important part is the preparation of the surface. Try high build primers, spray primers and lots of sunlight to see any flaws. Spot putty epoxy (fairing compound).
