Biggest difference between marine grade ply and exterior grade is the marine grade is supposed to be void free and the exterior grade very often isn't. If the ply is used flat it doesn't matter much, if it's bent though those voids will cause uneven bending and flat spots if you're lucky and folds if you're not.
Otherwise sealing the plywood edges is a good idea regardless of what material you use.
