The tendency is for the hull to just squeeze from the center line and you will loose initial stability making it a more round hull.

Good point.

I have the halves strapped together now and checked the profile of bottom of the hull. All good. The difference between the hull and deck shear is only an inch or so and it seems to be flexing back into shape along the shear line primarily.
