I agree with the looks comment but I like the design from a function standpoint. Actually I got into thing when I bought the G-Cat and the strike plans from the same guy. The idea was to fix up the G-cat and let my adult children play with it for a few years and then build the strike from the G-cat for retirement similar to your plans. I got the G-cat in pretty good shape and then I ran into my health issues and it killed the momentum. Since I had several months to think about it I went a different direction. My wife really doesn't care much for sailing or kayaking and I don't live in a great place for sailing, and kayaks are easier and faster to get on the water. I had also just built the sculling boat and realized that was something that I would only use a few times a year and I am not sure I want another big boat to store. The whole health issue really got me focused on simplifying and saving money. I may still build it but it is not high on the list anymore. The health issue fortunately is mostly behind me now. They have ruled out neurological disease and the right side of my face is mostly titanium now so it should last a life time. Another 4-6 months of healing and getting my eye muscles trained and I should be good. That eye sure waters when it is cold but other than that I am doing pretty good.
