Pygmy's site, he expresses cruising speed in square feet in one column (Std speed) and in mph in another (Top speed). An odd way of doing things. It is either speed or not speed and sq ft is not a measure of speed. Speed is time to cover a distance.

Paddling and speed, it can depend on the paddler's style, efficient or poor. Using the body or the arms. It doesn't mean a smaller person is always going to be slower.

My mention of a Wing paddle, tended to expect the paddler knew how to paddle and the same generally applies to a GP user.

This really leaves us with the question, what type of paddler is being talked about? someone out for a "Sunday cruise" or someone wanting to get somewhere.

There was mention of a short person and keeping on course, how much (or less) leverage they have. What has that got to do with the paddler's height? Surely the rudder keeps the kayak on coarse, especially in difficult conditions. No rudder? Why?
