Skin-on-Frame: Questions about general care

Last year my son and I build a Yost Kidarka. It worked out great, fast and light. We used clear vinyl for the skin, and that did not work out so well. We had no issues with punctures or damage, but after a summer of use, the inside became a mess. Where the vinyl was against the wood, the boat would simply not dry out. It ended up growing a healthy crop of mold and mildew.

So we have removed the skin and replaced the affected pieces of plywood. We used boiled linseed oil last year, and the did not do the trick. What should we be using to seal the plywood? The cedar stringers are no worse for wear BTW. We will not be using clear vinyl this time around.

Next question is how do you dry out a SOF boat?
