I would seal the plywood frames with either oil based varnish or oil based polyurehtane. Pretty sure epoxy will not bond to the linseed oil whereas the oil based products should. I used to have a problem with my SOF's not drying out and causing mildew- turns out I didn't seal the sewn seam properly with polyurethane- now that I seal my seams properly- no problems. After paddling I temporarily store the boat on top of the car sideways (on one gunwale) and in the sun to let it dry out easier. Then I'll flip it upside down for the night.
