The bow plate and the two stern plates took the brunt of the degradation. They were spongy on the face, but still structurally sound. Also still wet, even though the boat has been stored in a dry barn for six months.

I will back track a little on what I said. It did not occur to me that you built a Baidarka bow. That flat plywood bow shape doesn't get much/any airflow and will stay wet and can lead to rot. I have built a couple and I now build up a lip along the plywood making it a little wider and has a better shape, it also allows at least some airflow. Seeing the boat I can understand why you had problems. You said Kidarka but it didn't register with me.
