Sorry, I just can't conceive of the amount waste of cutting bias pieces from a roll.

And handling it, there's no getting around the PITA.

My hull/deck sheer joints are fairly angular creating added strength by itself, the added strength of a bias cloth joint is a moot point for my boats. I've never heard of a sheer joint failure.

I do use bias scraps (left overs from glassing the exterior) for my hull interiors. Here the extra threads crossing the strip/wood grain definitely help increase strength of a tension load (outside bang forces transferred to the interior) of the boat. Fiberglass is stronger in compression than in tension, so the extra thread count of bias cloth on the interior adds strength without extra glass and weight.

The longer I work, the more I realize, the smallest details make the biggest difference between
whether a task is fun, or a PITA.

I will keep working it as long as I can figure out how to do it and have fun.
