Turn your problem into a design feature.
Apply a contrasting veneer over these "strike" areas and apply a layer of glass over the veneer.
Make a batman logo shaped piece or a puppy, with wood burning tool, smiley face, whatever.
If you have strikes now you're likely to have them in the future.
I don't think you're going to repair those spots with crushed wood fibers and not have the repair visible.
So make it more visible and a feature. If it gets damaged again you can replace the veneer without problem.
