There is a market for used, home built-boats coming from a well-respected brand.
I sold my S&G Pygmy for $700. Now, Pygmys are very well regarded and hold their value well (relative to others).
When I listed it, I got several people interested the same day.
CLC - not so much - I see them for sale very cheaply.
Waters Dancing is another brand that may have above-average appeal to buyers.
Home-built based on non-descript design = bottom of the barrel.
However, if your boat is exceptionally good looking, you still may sell it well.
Still, prepare to wait for a VERY long time (and market it region-wide)

It may depend on the area, as well. I just don't see many 'wood' kayaks around Victoria BC, even though we have Rod Tait (Orca Boats) a fantastic builder in Vancouver to show the way. I don't know if Rod's boats sell locally or ship to other parts of the country (probably both).
Here are a few data points:
I had a pretty good looking Outer Island with hatches, bulkheads and carbon seat and coaming with very little use which I ended up using as a trade-in on a surfski-I think I got $500- after trying to sell it for a year. I needed the spot in my boat shed! It hung in a busy Vancouver shop for over a year until it sold.

I did sell a hybrid (S&G hull, strip deck) 'Greenland' boat a few years ago - I recall I got about $6-700 for it.

Right now, I'm trying to sell a wood-epoxy Romany copy without much luck-it's been on the market for a couple of months. It's listed at $1750 CAD (about $1375 USD). It's a great boat with little use.

BTW, my painted boats get a lot more compliments than the strip Outer Island - the wood look just isn't very popular here. Even the very few folks with CLC or Pygmy boats seem to paint them.

My advice: Build them for the fun of it, not the profit! ;-)
