I buy small bungee's by the can full. They are abouit 6" long unstretched with hooks on each end. I lay a piece of 1/4" dowel in the groove of the strip, hook the bungee over it, loop around attached strips and back over the one being glued. Quick and easy :) I usually do this in the center between forms if the strips won't stay together. I just started using a single nail through the strip into the form per some photo's I saw of Etienne's work, I like this much better than staples. I put the nails through a small piece of plywood before driving them into the form. This method leaves no marks on the strips and has something to get ahold of with pliers to pull the nails and it does a better job of pulling the strip down to contact the form.
Next kayak I will try planing the strips to fit and skip the tedious groveing process. May have to find a better way to attach the small bungee's without digging into the strip though . . .
